Carpet Manufacturing Styles
In the past, buying a new carpet was a huge investment, but one that could be expected to last for almost half a lifetime. More recently however, these exceptionally high quality Wilton and Axminster woven carpets have decreased in popularity, with modern tufted carpets taking their place. Although cheaper, these modern constructions can still provide the consumer with a high quality carpet, but with the added benefit of an extensive range of colours, patterns, textures and styles, to suit everyone.
In this section we look at the three major methods of carpet construction (weaving, tufting and bonding), along with a few of the less-widespread methods, such as hand-knotted and flatweave carpets.
