Carpet Manufacture and Composition

Although almost all of us have carpet in our homes, have we ever stopped to think how it is actually made? In this section we do just that, with a look at the general carpet making process, along with the different manufacturing styles, including the two most popular: woven (e.g. Axminster) and tufted (e.g. Berber and Saxony). There's also a guide to the many different types of man-made and natural fibres used in carpeting, and chance to see how the raw fibre is manipulated through the spinning process to turn it into carpet yarn.
