Staple

Short lengths of fibre that may be converted into spun yarns by textile yarn spinning processes. For carpet yarns spun on the common, modified worsted systems, most staple is 6-8 inches long. Staple fibre may also be converted directly into non-woven fabrics, such as needle-punched carpet.
